For this project, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Zimmerman Architectural Studio to design a Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) patient care room, a space that supports patients and families through one of life’s most transformative moments.

The design focuses on creating a calm, supportive, and functional environment that balances comfort, efficiency, and emotional well-being. Thoughtful spatial planning ensures that both patients and healthcare providers have what they need, while soft lighting, warm materials, and residential-inspired furnishings help create a more welcoming and less clinical atmosphere.

Flexibility was a key consideration, allowing the space to accommodate each stage of care, from labor and delivery to recovery and postpartum bonding. Features such as comfortable family seating, intuitive storage solutions, and a connection to natural light enhance the overall patient experience while maintaining the functionality required for medical staff.
